Baseball Season

May 2, 2007

I adore baseball season. There's nothing better -- except maybe football season. OK, so I am a bit of a sports nut. To illustrate my point: I hate jewelry commercials. You know, those sappy ones where the husbands surprise the wives with a bauble for their anniversary and then shout to the entire village about their undying love. Gag! I tell my husband all the time that if he wants to impress me, it better be season tickets -- and they better be good seats. My sons think that's pretty cool, but I remind them that Mom isn't your average gal, and that someday they will more than likely fall for a jewelry lover.

Anyhow, my point is that I love sports. My oldest is playing baseball right now. Last night, he hit the game winning home run. It was sweet -- as my oldest would say. I was even sick -- as my youngest would say. It was just plain old magical. The team dove on him at home plate. My throat didn't stop hurting until I wok up the next morning. The best part, he's different. He's better -- more confident, less cynical. He's proud and humble and strong and capable all in one shining package. For today at least. Tomorrow might be different, but today he could conquer the world. Shel
