Baseball
June 19, 2006
I imagine this is the way it goes with whatever a child chooses to be his own. My son tried violin this past school year, but we quickly found out that wasn't going to be "his thing." But there are other kids that definately have "it" when it comes to violin.
The thing is, kids need an "it." They need one special activity that pushes them to reach deep inside their being and pull out every thought and sensation in order to compete, survive, win perform, be alive.
My youngest son is still searching for his it, but I know he'll be OK. The spark comes at different times for different people, and the spark can change throughout our lives.
Baseball might not always be my oldest son's "it." In fact, he may move on to something else entirely, but it's nice to share these moments in the meantime.
